Post This assignment has two elements. Please present each in a separate paragraph: 1. Copy and paste the poem into your post. After each line, note the rhyme scheme. For instance: Twinkle, twinkle, little star, A How I wonder what you are! A Up above the world so high, B Like a diamond in the sky. B 2. Explain the connections you see between the poem's rhyme and its meaning. Develop this analysis into a paragraph or two. You will probably find it useful to look up the words and work to make sure you understand each potential meaning. You'll be writing the response to Pheobe likes to read poetry but has never studied it formally. Your goal is to give her some tools that will help her to understand even more fully than she does now the potery she enjoys. Response Write an email back to your classmate from Pheobe's point of view. As Pheobe, ask questions about the structure of the poem or point out other connections between rhyme and meaning that would enhance your reader's understanding of the poem. Please respond to one classmate. Learning Objectives Overview In this discussion board, you will practice both the mechanics of determining a poem's rhyme and the more challenging analytics of tying that rhyme scheme to meaning. By writing to Pheobe, you will practice making your observations as clear as possible and draw on genre as a lens for understanding a poem more fully rather than a dark glass for obscuring your meaning. Module • Practice writing for the class discussion board. • Recognize academic writing and reading as part of an ongoing conversation. • Articulate connections between texts and your own experiences. • Develop points of view and understanding in a conversation with others. • Develop material that will be useful in subsequent writing assignments. Grading As we discussed in the syllabus, your grade on the assignment will be determined by the discussion board rubric.
